So very sad. One of those 498 gigs was my first ever live experience, Manchester 1992. A central role in a night I’ll never forget. RIP.

Somebody has a job on their hands to fill those boots… Thanks for the job you did on the darts.

Re the last point about Colombo, q’s may be asked, nothing will be learnt. T20 in southern Florida in June last year… Laudable to play some World Cup Cricket outside of the “big” countries in the women game, but not during Monsoon season, this is meant to be the games primary trophy & showcase.

It’s an interesting point. Players play for that many franchises / teams that they must get contrasting advice from coaching teams. I can see that Issy Wong has gone one way, on the other hand I feel some players are endlessly backed to “go and just play” when it isn’t working. A hard balance…

I think it is fair to describe Perrin’s innings as a once in a lifetime century, it was something else. I do think it is safe to say there should be plenty of special knocks from her in the future though as that innings had everything - and at just 18.

As did an animal in pain… more generic then slaughtered pigs and tigers but worth a mention…

He’s asking “Did you know that Shake Dog Shake is the only animal to get honour of being mentioned in the title of an album opener?”

I’ve followed his career since the year of the Borland 9 darter game at the Ally Pally and he certainly showed levels I never knew he had. He’s always been streaky, but when it was his day today he took full advantage, pleased for him. Besides £15k, also a certainty for the Worlds & Players Champs.

Saw Blondie in Hull in 2022. The highlight, alongside them playing instrumental God Save The Queen with Glenn Matlock on bass, was Union City Blue and the drumming at the start. You felt he didn’t want to be anywhere else but on stage in Hull on a November evening and giving it 100%. Brilliant! RIP.

Not sure why but Machine Gun Worsley springs to mind…

Very interesting piece. For me Charlotte Edward’s is a must as coach. Overall Heather Knight has been excellent, but after The Ashes and examples like the Alex Hartley debacle it does seem time for a change. For what its worth (nothing…) I think they have to go with Charlie Dean, skip a generation.
March 22, 2025 at 3:29 PM
Yes, you just let NSB be what she is - one of the very best players in the game. I hope and expect they keep Knight around as a player too. She is plenty good enough and again could offer support if and when needed to start with - bit without being seen as a back seat driver.

I don’t see any other choice to be honest. Anyone seemingly more senior doesn’t fit the bill, so time to skip a generation. She’d only be a year younger than when Heather Knight took the job. If Charlotte Edwards becomes coach then I think I think the perfect guide to ease her into the job.

For anyone considering buying this I can only say it is an interesting and entertaining read / listen.
I hope it won’t be needed, but I’ve got my bike road ready now, just in case I need to cycle around shouting “the Russians are coming” as part of the new East Yorkshire early warning system…

Cork is my long-shot.

He looks much improved this year, much smoother throw.
Great tournament and coverage, watching Beau Greaves on Friday and Saturday was a real treat.

I’m not sure there is an easy answer, but it needs to at least be acknowledged as an issue. My concern is the PDC line that it isn’t an issue. As long as tickets sell out then they seem fine with it. It does spoil the spectacle and become boring quickly for most people…

Great graphic. Interesting weekend, and at least one 9 darter for stat buffs too…

Bradley Brooks on fire this week. Hope he can keep it going.

I wouldn’t want to watch him play Liam Maendl Lawrance it’s fair to say…
