Thankfully because of the 20% extra all the grumpy/chip on shoulder state school parents don’t have the right to complain now. They got their wish. Concentrate on writing angry letters to their own head and LEA now.

True but emails all too often don’t need to be even sent. A quick chat or message will suffice. But I don’t see a negative of GAI being used to summarise or smarten up an email.

Disagree. AI in education has so many benefits. There are so many elements to education that it very much has its place. It’s also an employability skill now which needs to be taught.

The assessment method and form of the feedback is the issue here. Not the use of GAI.

Depends if it’s formative or summative. But morally we have chosen to not use it for summative feedback. But SPAG and quick snippets of feedback for formative work is fine if paired with verbal.

!? It can’t help with overly aggressive people either.
April 15, 2025 at 8:51 AM
The point here is the email is the issue. Not the use of GAI.

Go on. Ask me how it’s used where I am and how it benefits staff + students. Rather than just assuming all of it is evil and bad etc.

But this is slightly missing the point on its strengths+how it can really enrich and help with teaching and learning. The assessment method is nearly always the issue when AI is blamed. My job it’s to teach and encourage AI within a college. It’s a game changer. But AI feedback is not something we do.
