This Black-bellied Whistling Duck is such a great bird hanging out in Chicago's North Pond right now. These ducks have been expanding northward in recent years.
There are at least 40 hanging in a small pond just south of Peoria, and one behind the Walmart near McHenry, IL.

We also had a Northern Flicker up on the Sears roof which was just remarkable. I had no idea they would be hanging out up this high.

It is sticking around the northern end of the Loyola beaches. Can you see it along the ropes?
This Mountain Bluebird has been seen hanging out at Loyola Park for the last 5 hours. It’s certainly found food, habitat, and structures it likes. With less than an hour till sunset (and relaxed, comfort-based behavior like bathing), this bird is likely settling in for the night.

This Mountain Bluebird has been seen hanging out at Loyola Park for the last 5 hours. It’s certainly found food, habitat, and structures it likes. With less than an hour till sunset (and relaxed, comfort-based behavior like bathing), this bird is likely settling in for the night.
