Ok I'll concede our mayors have historically sucked for various reasons but at least we don't have any Boeberts, MTGs, etc.

Because I know that Illinois is bursting with amazing homegrown talent and am rightfully distrustful of outsiders picking a district? Yeah no, being an informed voter and wanting candidates to hold townhalls to show us they deserve votes is not a thing that should be shat on. Chicago isn't dumb

Ok fine but the point still stands, she doesn't automatically get our vote because of her age and social media status. She's not local and it very much comes off as carpet bagging.

As a former student conservation Corp member we were doing work for the states and federal lands for a weekly stipend of $125. The states were getting trails built for almost FREE. This is not cost savings.

Border control/ customs can seize your phone without a warrant. If you refuse to unlock your phone, you risk being detained until they can search your phone. Their search and seizure is different from the average police.

I understand but 58,000 us soldiers died in Vietnam where 50,000 civilians in the US die per year due to gun violence. This is not just "over there". This is our country and we all live in a reactive state much like a warzone. This is not lessening what you felt but a reality we all live with.

You're proving my point. If they are going to do it, it'll happen regardless. It's in their playbook. There will always be bad actors at protests and no way to stop them from becoming violent when the boiling point is reached.

Exactly, the right wing podcast grifters are tricking the right into giving up their most fundamental right. The government can't take away your rights without proving you've done something wrong. I know it's a slippery slope argument but the slope IS slippery.
