The best use of a rubber chicken I’ve ever seen is the Three Stooges using one to make chicken soup.

Thank you! Had never seen this portrait. It is to be regretted his beautiful red hair had turned grey/white by the time he made color movies.

Arnold Stang-surprisingly quite a bit more attractive in person, especially if you like men in high water chinos and plain white tennis shoes with no socks, which I do.

I can’t recommend the biography of Barbara Stanwyck highly enough. The only downside is it’s only up till about 1940 or so. But a work of magnificent scholarship and insight

I love this picture so much. It’s perhaps the most real picture of a movie star Ive ever seen.

Glenn Ford in Courtship of Eddie’s Father and also Dear Heart. Both underrated and wonderful.

I love him in anything at all-wish he’d done more dancing on film than just the moments in Cheaper by the Dozen and Sitting Pretty

What I also find intriguing is unlike ebooks, which appeal to people who are already readers, audio has pulled many people in who never sat down. with a book, for a host of reasons. So it’s a “new” market for publishers rather than an alternative.

I can’t quite you exact figures but I believe the contracts with Kindle and Audible are also less than for a printed book by quite a bit. Audio fastest growing sector of publishing. Audio is also much closer to parity of use by male/female than “read” books.

Although audiobooks are obviously a wonderful thing, be aware Spotify trying to do with books what they did with music-make them all available cheaply. Authors will get pennies. Luckily real books still exist.

Passionate Friends-one of my favourite films with one of the best endings of any love story.

Wait till you hear them going off on Fred Rogers. I had a boss who told me she would never ever let her son watch him as it would make him “soft”. I felt deeply sorry for that boy.

It has that rare quality of creating a world you want to hang out in-sort of like Andy Griffith or The Mary Tyler Moore Show or even Gilmore Girls. Very hard to do.

People say Delon this and Newman that but really there was no one handsomer than Toshiro Mifune
