At the end of the day Deathloop was truly a GotY contender in 2021 that just falls short at the final hurdle. It’s an enjoyable experience through & through that I’m glad I finally gave my time to years after its release. I’d recommend this game to everyone.

Deathloop is 8/10

The final sequence of Deathloop was amazing but left a little to be desired. From a storytelling perspective it was ace. An amazing development with a literal choice that forced me to pause the game to ponder. But in terms of gameplay it wasn’t as satisfying as I wanted it to be.

If you take too long to beat Deathloop eventually the chatter between Julianna & Colt just goes quiet, and while that’s not a big gripe it was something I didn’t like about the game. I wouldn’t have minded them even repeating dialogue from previous loops.

Deathloop’s biggest mistake to me is trying to do this Dark Souls-y type of gameplay where you can play as Julianna to take out other players as they try to break the loop themselves. Focusing on the single player experience with more dialogue between the main characters.

Julianna is easily the best part of Deathloop. Your relationship with her through the game changes as you get closer to solving and breaking the loop. She will randomly come into the district you’re in. You’ll have to take her out or sneak past her and open up your exit to escape

The Visionaries in Deathloop all care Super Human Abilities in the form of Slabs. Defeating them to use them for yourself in future runs. This allows you to play the game however you’d want. you start with the ability to rewind if you die a few times per time of day.

Personally I wasn’t very good at the stealth gameplay of Deathloop & went loud more than I care to admit. Although, to my surprise this game took that into consideration and didn’t end up being that much of a detriment to the game causing me to loop a handful of extra times

The gameplay of Deathloop is your standard dishonored affair. You sneak around 4 distinct districts of Blackreef. You live in Groundhog Day repeating the same day over and over to figure out how to break the loop. stealth gameplay this game will click with you.

Deathloop starts you with no information. A small tutorial to teach you the basics of the game and then off you go to kill 7 visionaries. Why are you killing them? Who are you? Why are here? The more you discover the more one thing becomes clear.

You MUST break the Loop.

At the end of the day, Blocky Dungeon is a solid game that plays great & is incredibly well put together. But the adventure mode is relatively short, and there’s not a lot of reason to keep playing after you’re finished it besides to scratch the Tetris Itch from time to time. I’d recommend it. 7/10

My biggest gripe w/ Blocky Dungeon is that there’s not a lot more too it. Admittedly this isn’t a big issue, and the game is very solid as it is. But this is a single player experience you’ll load up and play every so often when you need that Tetris itch scratched.

There’s 40 levels in the Adventure Mode of Blocky Dungeon, challenging you to do different things like using as few blocks as possible or defeating a certain number of enemies or to take as little damage as possible. Leading to 4 different boss fights that are interesting enough.

The Gameplay of Blocky Dungeon is simple yet complicated, while controlling the pieces of the dungeon go you can also move the player character, Fighting all types of enemies. It’s tricky at first to move both, but if you take your time you’ll understand that the pieces don’t fall until you let them
