And Jodrell Bank is magical in the evening. Started with a gentle stroll through autumn finery, left to the a lovely view of the lit-up #LovellTelescope.

Get yourself down to the next one.

Genuinely exciting end to the lecture, learning about how the new #VeraCRubin observatory will take us from knowing about three of these interstellar objects, to hundreds.

Not so often at night because life is hectic, but it is my go-to for “something cool is happening in the sky, where can I see it from”. I took this one of the blood moon in 2023

Indeed, reminds you of how much is up there! I go often, but usually during the day - hard to resist the beautiful grounds and forced unplugging 📵, not to mention the good coffee and excellent pie in the cafe. And the fact that one booking gets you as many visits as you want for the year!

Thank you ☺️ I was wondering what the comparison of the nT would be.

I love the pink!

That helps thanks 😅

I just reposted these from October last year to pick me back up. It was my first and so far only sighting, but if I never see it again I’ll always have that memory of the absolute strangeness. It was so vivid even to the naked eye.

Quelling FOMO from missed #aurorawatch pings by a) telling myself it was probably cloudy and b) looking at my photos from October when I stood in the middle of a field next to the Lovell telescope @jodrellbank.bsky.social. I didn’t know whether to laugh, shout or just lie down #aurora #jodrellbank

The mixed emotions when you wake up to one of these and then realise it was almost certainly total cloud cover #aurorawatch
