Zdarsky’s is a bit of a slow burner, if I remember rightly. By issue 15 or so I was hooked, but Ioved Bendis and Miller pretty much immediately.

That’s fair about Waid. I think it was a deliberate reaction to steer away from the grimdark Shadowland run, the only real stinker in DD’s recent canon.
