Yoon impeached!

The Constitutional Court has upheld Yoon’s impeachment! We will have an early presidential election within 60 days.

This was possible because of the enduring organizing of the Korean people. After 4 months of non-stop protests, we the Korean People did it!

In the longest impeachment process in Korea’s history (but expedited when compared to the U.S, which seems to never reach actual impeachment) with the final verdict from the Constitutional Court due sometime next week, Koreans protests are reaching epic heights. This weekend, MILLIONS showed up.

길원옥 할머님, Gil Won Ok, one of the known final 8 surviving Korean women who were forced into sexual enslavement during Japan's occupation of Korea, passed this week at 96. She dedicated the rest of her life, protesting weekly for accountability from Japan.

At 3am Sunday in Korea, conservative far right pro-Yoon protesters destroyed and broke into the court house that granted the warrant for Yoon's arrest.

They attacked police and used chairs, fire extinguishers, and even stolen police shields to break the exterior of the court to gain entry.

This week, temperatures have hit historic lows, -20 Celsius.

It is mostly young women who have held the streets no matter what.

This has generated creative art and music to cheer folks on and to inspire and swell advocacy.

The “Kisses Squad” is the name given to the protestors that have been outside of Yoon’s residence day and night demanding his arrest, even through sub zero cold and snow. The silver thermal blankets wrapped around resemble Kisses chocolates.
