PhD candidate @Princeton. I study Water-Energy, and them in the AI era. M&M's (map and microbes)! Fmr @Tsinghua @Stanford, proud parent of 2 chinchillas. When I’m not in office, I’m usually on the rocks. (he/him)

Hey what’s up! Thought I would do a self introduction as the first post. I am an environmental engineer studying water, mainly in the energy context. I love rock climbing, badminton, making all sorts of maps, and spending time with my two chinchillas!

Who said chinchillas cannot be sewer guru - here is one reading the lattest issue of Water Environment & Technology 😌🧐

Hey. Sewers. Cool!
the work of a wastewater utility has most people think, “hey. sewers. ok.”

but among our work’s earliest and most visible impacts?

healthier streams and a greater lake.
Invested, improved, renewed.
Bringing life back to our waterways started with the systems you’ve always used but rarely seen

History was the most popular major at Princeton just 25 years ago, but it's fallen hard -- from a high of 11.8% to just 3.8%.

In totally unrelated news, I have been on the Princeton History faculty for those same 25 years.

Our paper on reclaimed water for H2 is out in ES&T! The production of green H2 is a rather thirsty process-not just for electrolysis but for cooling as well, potentially competing with other needs in water-stressed region.
TLDR: water is not a worry if you source it wisely. 🧵 #energysky #watersky
Water Resource Recovery Facilities Empower the Electrolytic Hydrogen Economy
The global transition to net-zero emissions necessitates the integration of clean hydrogen as a key solution. To facilitate the required expansion of clean hydrogen production, sustainable water sourc...

#30DayMapChallenge Day 11 - Arctic
Well technically this is a bit further south lol but here we go - a #map showing the movement of one subadult female #polar bear (X33939, yes she got a code name😎). Data from #USGS Alaska Science Center. They've also published a paper from this set of data!

Alright, to kickstart #watersky, here's a map I made of all the wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) in the U.S. based on EPA CWNS2022 results. They are, in my opinion, one of the most underappreciated public infrastructures, but plays a big role in public health and environmental protection. 🧵
