Land of the lustrous Watermelon Tourmaline and Hemimorphite

A "powderless", or pure, clear, and crystalline version of Watermelon tourmaline from land of the lustrous sits in the center of a lotus flower.

Wanted to make a sister piece to my Watermelon Tourmaline image I did a bit back (Cause I love this pair)

While Watermelon's is more fantastical, I wanted Hemimorphite's to feel more grounded while still keeping the dream-like quality.

Got this as a fun Commission from a friend of mine!

Their character is named Woon, new costume and had fun designing this!
I loved the vibe of the character they described and definitely had fun designing the sirens!

(labeled it as mature just to be safe, but nothing scandalous is showing)

Woon (the central figure dressed in pirate garb, with a cat tail and a tricorn cat) Examines a beautiful jewel white sitting atop a throne place at the peak of a pile of gold.
Two sirens, one male(left) one female(right), approach from either side of the pirate: But woon only has eyes for their prized jewel.

A fun detail about the sirens: The siren woman on the right's jewelry is largely made up of shark teeth: representing their role as the primary hunting group while the male siren mostly wears decorative and pretty shells!

This was based on a convo between a friend and i about how Grimora looked like she'd fit in the setting of "Pride and prejudice and zombies"

so of course i had to make a whole movie night comic over it.

....

This was way too much of an idea and i should have stopped myself.

Grimora approaches Royal Dominguez as he watches out a window, telescope in hand.

Grimora: "Tell me Royal, any signs of our dear challenger yet? I am quite excited to see those "Movies" she mentioned"

Royal: "Nothing seen from the crows nest yet Ma'am. ...Wait a second."

Royal turns so his voice can reach those inside the crypt

royal: "CHALLENGER APPROACHING FROM THE STARBOARD BOW"

Grimora's reaches for Royals telscope.

Grimora: "Splendid, would you mind if i take a look?"

Royal: "Of course Lady Grimora"

Grimora: "Would you look at that! There she is! And she brought one of Magnificus' mage pupils and is that... P03?!?"

While Grimora is speaking, The lonely wizard, the challenger, and an out of frame p03 are seen walking along a trail. The lonely wizard stops to examin a set of skeletal hands popping out of the ground while the challenger worries over him. by the next panel the lens is focused on p03 while the challenger and the lonely wizard are seen recoiling, presumably the hands tried to grab them.

Grimora lowers the telescope and worries over the situation with royal

Royal: "Now what's the challenger doing bringing that bucket of bolts to our turf?"

Grimora: "... I am unsure. I would not think he would come all this way just to enjoy this "movie night" with us."

royal: "but don't go starting any fights just yet. Those to be your orders correct?"

Grimora: "Yes."

The panel changes and we see the challenger laughing about the previous encounter while the lonely wizard watches the ground worriedly. P03 looks at the pair annoyed by the delay.

Now done with their journey the three enter the crypt with The challenger shouting. "Guess whose back! And with some friends for movie night."

The lonely wizard is curious about the crypt while P03 looks absolutely done with the situation.

Challenger: "INTRODUCING! All the way from the mage tower they may not know their name anymore but they know how to have fun!" more quietly "Though i've been calling them "Blue" and they seem to respond well to it."
"And our VIP, the scrybe of technology himself, P03!! He has very generously offered his wifi and his monitor to play our movies for tonight! Make sure you give him your thanks!"

Grimora, putting her hand on P03's shoulder: "Well, as one scrybe to another, i give you my sincere thanks for taking time away from your factory to help us make our movie night a success"

P03: "Yeah, whatever. Let's get this over with so i can get back to doing something actually useful. You do absolutely owe me for this though.

Grimora: "Movie night's" In the trader's room. Head on in and I'll be there in just a moment!"
As the lonely wizard and p03 make their way to the room, grimora stops the challanger by gently grabby her wrist as she passes by.

Grimora, whispering: "Do tell me, how on earth did you manage to get P03 to volunteer his face as a tv for our "movie night"?

Challenger: "Oh that? It was much easier than you think. I made a bet with him, whoever won best 2 out of 3 would win. And he was SO sure he would win. but then he lost once... twice... each time by oh, i don't know. only a few hundred points!!

The challenger shows off her overpowered ouroboros card with 300 attack and 300 damage. Grimora tries to hold in her laugh but burst into laughter.

Grimora: "How absolutely brutal! I almost wish i could've seen his face when he lost!"

Challenger: Best part is, I told him i'd forgive his debt if he came and helped us out for a few hours."

Grimora: "Well, you little trickster, We'd better get to the "movie" room before P03 has a chance to change his mind."

Grimora, her 3 ghouls, the trader, The lonely wizard, and the challenger are all sat on boxes in the traders room while P03 sits across from them, playing the movie.

The trader leans against a box, watching but impossible to tell if they are actually enjoying the movie or not.

Grimora is having a good time engaging with the movie, remarking "Oh to be so young and gaurded. Always something to prove"

Royal domiguez is more skeptical. saying "this is what you landlubbers handle things? Stuff like this is why i will always prefer life at sea"

the lonely wizards sits behind the challenger. The challenger is letting them fidget with her hair to keep (the lonely wizard) from getting to hyper during the movie.

Saywer Pattel watches on calmly.

Panel 2 is labeled "second viewing, Pride and prejudice and zombies"

Grimora, her 3 ghouls, the trader, The lonely wizard, and the challenger are all sat on boxes in the traders room while P03 sits across from them, playing the movie.

The trader, seeing a sudden swing of royal dominguez's weapon, draws her own knife and keeps an eye on the situation.

Grimora is laughing, both at the movie and royal dominguez's reaction to the fights.

Royal domiguez is scolding the movie characters for their sword fighting skills. "You can't fight your foes with a weak stance like that! If you want to protect your friends there you must use your whole body in the swing of your sword."

the lonely wizard and the challenger jump back as the sword swings.

At the end grimora, the challenger p03 discuss the experiance.

Grimora: "well, i think it's safe to say the "movie night" was a success! Should we have another one, we ca…

Some recent inscryption work.

wanted to draw Grimora cause I just adore her and also decided to play with contrast and perspective when i was working with the prospector.

A dramatic recreation of the prospector slamming his pickaxe into one of your cards. most of the man is in shadows but is clearly identifiable by his deranged smile and said pickaxe which is, again, currently being slammed down into one of your cards.

Watermelon Tourmaline, Land of the Lustrous

Been wanting to do a "powderless" version of this character for a while because not only do I LOVE tourmalines (With my own OC / Online sona being "Queen Ichigo Rubellite") But I also really just wanted to try my hand at the layered colors of gem!

A goofy-er side of the au

apologies for typos i am very sick.

left:
Grimora is seen encouraging Magnificus, playfully chiding him "Come now Magnificus, the challenger doesn't bite" in the frame just to right it is revealed that, in Magnificus' words "Yes she does!!!"

Leshy cheering on the challenger with a "that's my girl" and P03's "get wrecked old man" suggest that both seem to be enjoying the moment.

underneath we see the reactions of Magnificus' students later, All three exclaiming "You bit the master" even while their expressions suggest different tonalities to the cry.
The player, underneath, holds 0 remose and is seen saying "And i'd do it again."

middle bottom and bottom right:

MC is seen about to go hunting with The trader and the Prospector. As seen by the comment under the challenger, they are going hunting because Leshy thinks that the challenger should learn how to obtain food for herself. The comments next to prospector explain "Here to lend the bloodhound to the hunt, look for gold, and make sure the trapper keeps his knives to the beasts."
The comments next to the trader explain that the trader is "happy to teach how to hunt and prep prey in trade for a couple extra hands to restock their wares." and "Despite this trip being an order from Leshy, the trader still charged for the pelts for (the challengers) winter gear."

to the right it is seen that, after struggling to prep game, the challenger "Decided to stick with fishing for food until they are ready to try prepping game meat again."

Upper right:
The challenger is seen sobbing, the reality of the situation hitting them as they cry out "I can't believe I did that! I could've died Grimora! Now Im trapped here forever."
Grimora brushes her hair to help soothe her while assuring the challenger that "We'll if ever do die, your more than welcome to stay here with me and my ghouls."

Inscryption: New Game Plus+ AU
Enjoy the brainrot that I've been distracting myself with while i try and suffer my way through a cold

(if your wondering why leshy's body is still there when it's not in game, its cause everyone else leaves a body when they get their photo taken, idk why he wouldn't)

The player/challenger holds a camera while cowering against a pile made up of the dead bodies of other challengers.
she Is gripping Leshy's camera like her life depends on it with an expression of horror as she comes to realize that she just killed a man AND almost died herself.

on her wrist are intense bruises from leshy trying to pull her arms off the camera

The great scrybe Leshy all the meanwhile lays dead in front of her.

A comic depicting the basis / inciting incedent to the New game plus AU.

Leshy lays on the ground dead, his soul captured by the camera that captured so many souls before his.

Unseen narrator (UN): "through great grit and determination, another player had bested the scrybe of beasts."

The player is seen standing, no longer having a use for it, she lets the scrybes camera fall to the floor.
The focus changes to the New game card, shining against the wall of the cabin. Even now it is somewhat apparent that something is wrong with this card as it is seen actively glitching.

Unseen narrator: "Surely the relief they felt must have felt overwhelming. After all, with the great scrybe beaten, all that was left to claim their reward"

In a sequence of panels, the player is seen reaching for the card, after touching it however, the card turns dark and corrupted, and though she trys to draw back by the third panel it can already be seen to be corrupting the player.

Unseen Narrator: "Most assumed that their reward for surviving was escape, But i had a much grander reward for them in mind, for what better reward for those so devoted to my litttle game...

.... then to make them a part of it"

The comic goes black for a moment before we are shown the players eyes wide open, corrupted in a way that almost looks bloodshot. The red corruption coming from the old_data between them.

the player is seen bent over in agony as the old_data from above is seen reaching it's power into her.
what is presumed to be her soul is all that is left standing against the old data and still remains fighting against it.

Unseen narrator: "The first trial was over, it was time for a new game to begin."

The player / challenger is seen standing in a crowd of people.
Dialouge at the top and bottom explains to the player "whether you failed or survived the first challenge was irrelevant. Your souls were his the second you accepted the challenge."
with this context it becomes clear that the people around the central player / challenger are other challengers who also fell prey to the same deception she did.
its left up to interpretation, but is suggested that those who are greyed out died to the first challenge while those who still have color survived, only to be trapped forever.

Behold! The (way belated) results of My Pokémon art study!!

This was done for me and my closest besties, all of theirs were done by Christmas but I got burned out and didn't finish my own until just a few days ago XD.

Furret is trying to get his attention while umbreon schemes on how to play with snom. Arcanine is babysitting two woopers while a Mimikyu rests snuggly in a shelf.

Some of the Final exercises I did once I was satisfied with the result of my study

Cant say enough how grateful there was such a huge resource to use when trying to translate human form into the anime style

Various sketched faces from the pokemon series, both anime and games, used to understand how the official artists of the pokemon team draw different angles and expressions.

Various poses from Adorkastock's Deviantart page used as reference and transformed into pokemon style characters. due to this being a study of the base form of pokemon characters, they have not been given costumes and have been left in a state where the undersketch breaking down the shapes is still visible.

A Pokémon Art study:

Wasn't Feeling particularly inspired to draw a whole finished illustration so I settled on a doing a bunch of sketches and as one thing led to another, it became a whole study.
Suprisingly: It actually did refresh and inspire me cause now I wanna test this new skill some more!

The Girls
Notes:
-Moreso than the standard anime style, (try to) see torsos as simplified ball jointed dolls.
- On fatter forms: Bust makes up majority of the rib section, creating more circular forms.
- Focus on flow and simplified designs more so than 100% Accuracy.
-5-6 Heads tall.

On the right side:
Melony, Katy, Palina, Iridia, Nessa.
They have been broken down to basic shapes and proportions.

On the left:
4 rows of faces looking around at different angles. The bottom most row has been broken down into what planes build the facial structure of this style.

The Guys
Notes:
-Legs Vs. Torso proportions seem to vary more than the girls??
- Base torso shape can best be described as "Slightly compressed rectangles."
- Shape over accuracy unless character is highly muscular.
-5-6 Heads tall.

On the right side:
Team skull Grunt, Gaeric, Professor Laventon, Blue (Gary Oak) , Player character (pokemon Scarlet violet).
They have been broken down to basic shapes and proportions.

On the left:
4 rows of faces looking around at different angles. The bottom most row has been broken down into what planes build the facial structure of this style.

Zelda: Light Restored

A version of TOTK Zelda. After the final battle with dragon form Ganondorf and an injured Dragon Zelda and Link plummet, the sages reveal to Zelda that the way to return from her dragon form and become whole again is to forgive herself and let go of her grief and regret.

Zelda Stands to the left in the image in an ensemble similar to both that and Ganondorfs demon form in TOTK yet in a style that evokes a sacred light inspired by Hylia.
The light that surrounds her is pure and golden

Her hands and chest have become marked with magic in much more rounded and flowing than the jagged edges of her cursed form.

The background is light and uplifting, illuminated by the sacred light of the triforce.

Zelda: Light Enraged

A version of TOTK Zelda where Zelda; upon losing Sonia, snaps, temporarily forsaking her guiding principles of kindness and wisdom in a blind attempt to take out the man who keeps taking away everything she loves.

Zelda Stands to the left in the image in an ensemble similar to both that and Ganondorfs demon form in TOTK.
It glows with a purple blue light with bits of Zelda's golden light still poking through. In her left hand is Sonia's Necklace.

Her hands and chest have become marked with magic in the same way Ganondorf's did in his demon form.

The background is dark and ominous swirling with purple and magenta light.

One Last Dance

Land Of the Lustrous Fanart Ft. Bort and Dia

An artistic Rendition of the scene of Dia fighting Bort from land of the lustrous.

The battle has been interpreted in a more dramatic and dance-like matter, Dia's pose in particular being inspired by the Arabesque Ballet pose.

The moon lights Dia's back and the Lunarian sun spot looms behind her. She wears a smile on her face despite being split by Bort's rope as Bort's final act as she falls to the ground shattered.

Tonal Treasure; Mikumarine!!!

A mix of Magical girl, Aquamarine, and music Miku-marine is ready to save the world with the power of her songs!!

Cairngorm, Land of the Lustrous

Another piece based off of cairngorm, I CANNOT get enough of drawing her simply because of her beautiful gemmy self and great potential for high contrast compositions.

(also why I like posting Dia and bort without their powder. Just so shiny.)

Cairngorm sits in a state of peaceful rest with the nightsky behind her, decorated only by the faint glow of starlight and a single comet.

The Dress she wears is a two piece made of extravagant, sparkly tulle with gold accents. Above her head is a halo like crown that includes a thin tulle viel draping behind her almost like hair.

The image plays with the high contrast and harmony between the black of the sky and her skin vs the white of her hair and her gown.

A Lustrous Gala

My own little "Thanks for everything" to Land of the Lustrous, envisioned as a season wrap party / gala.

I May be late to this party but a serious thank you to land of the lustrous for being such an incredible story and experience.
