its not a bad movie but just very very mid. obv in the typical Illumination fashion but even most Illumination films had bigger and better longevity than an entire fucking Super Mario movie

also our expectations werent extremely high bc we never knew how much bigger the 3rd party support could be for Smash. but man, i remember everything. playing the demo over and over, waiting in line at a busy Gamestop the exact day the 3ds one came out, and finally buying the wii u version

was a crazy time to actively following smash/nintendo discussion. one thing ill give the wii u era of nintendo that was neat was that most fans following them at the time were literally the most passionate and grateful. didnt even know where half the newcomers came from but still loved all of them
