I've gotta say, I hadn't been on deadbirdsite in a while, but it's absolutely hilarious to see how many blue-checkmark folks ask Grok to back-up their preconceived notions, only to get sorely disappointed.

well, it was a good run.
It's been so fun over the past year or so, coding with my buddy Claude, but now he just goes off and does it on his own, running tests, adding new ones, looking at error logs, and I sit here kinda peering over his shoulder while he works, thinking "hmm, yeah, nice job..."

(as it turns out, I was being born almost literally across the street from his parents "backyard" [it's a fancy hotel now, but it was a hospital in the 70's], where I imagine he might have had some part of his bday party? )

I think my intuition is based on looking at ColBERT (v1 or v2) without PLAID, because your table 5.2 even shows it: "Vanilla" ColBERT v2, on MSMARCO v1 (8.8M passages) takes between 900-4500ms latency on an 8CPU config. With PLAID, between 30-100ms!
