Slowly leaving
TfL pushed a wider approach on Crossrail and will likely do so again on Bakerloo. As did GM on HS2 Phase 2/NPR

But it wouldn’t be surprising to see short-term sales take precedence over longer-term interests there too (3/3)

So DfT will be nervous about that this is outside ‘railway purposes’ now. They could transfer the land to development corporations or local authorities for regen, or sell to LCR Property/Platform 4, but hanging on to it is tricky (2/3)

Historically commercial redevelopment and regeneration have been seen as outside the scope of ‘railway purposes’ unless very closely related to running the railway - making money for it wasn’t enough

The original bill did include a broader comp purchase power for this, but that was lost (cont)

To be fair to Labour, HS2’s powers to take and use land were set when the hybrid bill for Phase One passed, back in 2017 - this will likely be land they have to give back

Though not so unusual if you’re a Welsh rugby supporter

A clear platform for a better Britain

Wonder if that’s why iPlayer, which isn’t competing in quite the same way, can sometimes be good for browsing: it at least gives you categories to skim through

Once Rassie says it was a deserved red, you know it’s going to be hefty

18 week entry point for deliberate eye contact and he’s only just back from another ban, isn’t he? 6 months more likely than 6 weeks

It also depends on whether Chase & Status, Little Mix, the cast of Encanto (and K-Pop Demon Hunters), Clean Bandit, Rudimental, Chain Smokers, Major Lazer or Ladbaby count as “bands”

Love it whenever I’m reminded of the existence of American Music Club
November 26, 2025 at 11:33 PM
Yeah, my vague recollection is that their name used to be the full word, then they adopted the abbreviation and misspelling (which also appeared like American slang) to avoid censorship. But I was a teenager several thousand miles away.
November 26, 2025 at 11:31 PM
They did, but it was also clear what NWA was an abbreviation for: they spelled it out on track 1 of the album

The band definitely used an -az rather than an -ers ending, I wonder if this was a subeditor ‘correcting’ that?

Pretty much. It seemed to be everywhere at the time

Quite fun to see it go up, but not sure it’ll affect HM choices as you’re probably the only one who can see how many full votes each song has

Yep, it should be one of the Comptroller & Auditor General’s public bodies, part of/alongside the NAO

I guess they must be claiming that the Arch is a bar not a pub, otherwise they’re not even the only one one that road!

Two Brewers looks like a pub to me too.

You should have done a list; I’d have included this if I’d heard it a week earlier!

The one that nearly turned my head was Ngishutheni by Goon Flavour and many other South Africans. Not sure if he’s anything to do with Arsenal. A definite HM

The level of discovery on this challenge has been almost as high as the pre-54 one; I had a great new playlist everyday!

Working them up shortly. Just need to convert the various notes I made during people’s 50s into a coherent list

I did like this one! Thank you!

I hadn’t, so thank you!

If you’re old enough to have seen some of the original trilogy at the cinema, then the best Star Wars film was the trailer for Phantom Menace. That had everything.

After that it was all downhill.
