I wrote a poem called “Plastic Flowers” with a part that goes: “When you pluck a flower from its home in the dirt/it has already died/but to you it is just as beautiful in your hand/even as it wilts the more it craves to be closer to the ground than the sun.”

I loved the relationship development of Kai and Kiki, I loved that he always called her by her full first name, Kikiola, and I loved her attention to creating a safe space for Black people in a mostly white space. #booksky
