People seems to have an expectation that games must be commercial products. It's like people drawing had to do comission or get their art into galleries.
Gamejams are way less pushing for commercial, but they do need a lot of fundamentals often.

I feel like there's a dichotomy between what people expect for microblogging platforms. I do not feel like they are the place where you have a debate, it's just places where you get to document what you feel, think, create and others can be there to witness it. As long as the Steam survey have been there. People played games on crappy builds because they didn't need expensive builds to play their game. Don't underestimate CS and League. The people that complains about perfs and bother about the top of the line GPU are a minority.
