man, you got real butthurt real fast over not knowing something, maybe you should go touch some grass instead of getting pissy over this

just saying. ad is plenty depressing, no need to fixate on the one thing that isnt really notable
November 24, 2025 at 3:03 PM
literally all they have to do is tell the rank and file they'll heavily support a primary challenger

then again, you might have a point, the DNC is entirely filled with spineless worms, expecting any of them to challenge biden is thinking too highly of them
November 24, 2025 at 2:56 PM
I wonder how the party that dumped tons of money into supporting Trump through his primary because they were sure they could beat him might try to deal with people that step out of line, hmm.

Not how carpal tunnel works. I've got it in both wrists from work and other hobbies. holding a controller with claw is effectively identical from a carpal tunnel standpoint--i just move my fingers, my wrist flexion is the same for both
November 24, 2025 at 8:27 AM
2024 was entirely too late. even completely ignoring his ironclad support of genocide, he was already older than the average american life expectancy the day he was sworn in. primary should have been the baseline assumption for someone more likely to die in office than not, but democrats like losing
November 23, 2025 at 6:46 PM
Alternatively, it might make us phosphorescent which sorta sounds similar which means it's probably a good thing
November 23, 2025 at 4:32 PM
that one isn't specifically her fault, but it's not ridiculous. elections are the relief valves for popular anger, but they only work if people believe they're fair. skipping the primary chips away at that illusion.

the party should have forced a primary rather than letting biden coast
November 23, 2025 at 4:25 PM
the video is atrocious but thats probably the least offensive thing in there
November 23, 2025 at 7:48 AM
that's a claw grip. pretty common used in competitive games, looks fucked but it's for accessing face buttons without letting off the right stick
November 23, 2025 at 7:47 AM
that said, the metric where it excels is energy produced per unit fuel, not per volume

fusion reactors are also significantly more complicated than every other power source we have and require more power to run, so... not necessarily the most practical or efficient power source available.
November 23, 2025 at 3:12 AM
every fusion reactor I'm aware of uses deuterium-tritium fusion, which is more energetic by a couple orders of magnitude and at feasible temperatures and pressures
November 23, 2025 at 2:55 AM
but also... I'm cool with someone *trying* to do it through reform

I'm pretty sure most people would prefer reform, so watching someone actually try and eventually fail is probably necessary for many of us to realize there's really only one way out
November 20, 2025 at 5:01 PM
if someone could lay out a real viable path out of capitalism via reform, I would 100% prefer that route to revolution

problem is, that will always eventually require capital to peacefully surrender power, and that just isn't how things work

The worst part is that i really like other M as a game too. the gameplay really does sell the feeling of samus as an unstoppable weapon of mass destruction, and on replays them authorizing powerups vs finding them really does sell how dangerous she is and how the fed sees her as a weapon to control
November 16, 2025 at 7:40 PM
Metroid as a whole kinda struggles the more explicit the story is though. Her character is explored almost entirely thru subtext.

Other M's writers clearly missed the subtext. Dread is cool in that it feels like the first game that did entirely on purpose
November 16, 2025 at 7:20 PM
(unless they're going for "samus can't see him objectively but he does suck" which... well, they obviously aren't)
November 16, 2025 at 7:08 PM
but fusion (and dread, to a lesser extent) makes it clear that she just respects adam and seems to think of him as "one of the good ones" in the federation, so none of that works if we see him and he sucks shit
November 16, 2025 at 7:06 PM
i dunno, the "weird condescending father figure/implied love interest treating her like a weapon to be used, that does a noble sacrifice to save her" could work as a setup for some really complex feelings toward adam (and the federation as a whole)...
November 16, 2025 at 7:03 PM
like both ideas (a subservient samus becoming independent / a samus soaked in the blood of planets having a hard time dealing with the death of the baby) have a lot of potential... as long as they aren't in the same story
November 16, 2025 at 6:44 PM
swap the setting to the mission where samus leaves the federation? now its about her becoming the character we know, and it's neat.

but Post-super samus struggling with ideas of motherhood being given orders by the federation whose incompetence killed her baby? How is she not on a warpath?
November 16, 2025 at 6:35 PM
god, other M hurts because a lot of the worst moments only suck in the exact context of that game

the ptsd, her view of adam, waiting to use powerups until commanded (followed by the sarcastic "any objections, adam?" when deciding to use them on her own later)...
November 16, 2025 at 6:22 PM
that said, the balance in samus seems to be at its best when she's portrayed as a walking calamity 99% of the time with just a single, strategically placed moment of real humanity, so idk maybe stone cold sociopath isn't that far off
November 16, 2025 at 5:19 PM
that said, just treating her as a motherly figure also totally misses the point and is dumb.

it'd be way more interesting if they recognized and played with the contradictions of "cold detached bounty hunter" and "motherly protector" both being part of the same character
November 16, 2025 at 5:08 PM
I think its more samus, specifically, shouldn't

Her best storytelling moment is when she only stops her single-handed extermination of the metroids when the last infant mistakes her for its mother.

the juxtaposition of the killing machine with the motherly impulse is super interesting
