锁链很短，杰西没法用它勒死别人。而且他觉得无论是用锁链自杀或杀人，都既不可行，也没法把他从已经陷入其中的悲剧里解救出来。

但是我自己想不起来的东西就不是烧出来的，而是有淡淡的空气墙，告诉自己我不想不应该不需要努力回忆，它的边缘也是平滑模糊的，不是像烧出来的边缘这样坚硬发黑。
烧毁这部分比喻的是别的东西，比如说，作为一个人是无法看到眼睛之后的东西的——不只是眼睛之后，还有其它看不到的东西。但是就在某个时刻之后，就连仿佛弥补般的行动，也无法再形成“这部分尚可还原”的幻想了。
