The way I’ve only realized I’ve never touched a fire type. It started with my distaste for Charmander and it’s just never left me apparently? The grass types of only been the ones that have moved me. XDDDDD WATA POKEMON FOREVAAAA!!!

I started to wonder if this was the best I could do. Every crossing area was an X every opening was an O. It felt stronger. But I felt like I lost something along the way. Even with the clown paint being used in a more avant-garde corpse, paint kind of way. This is about the point

Accentuating the hair barete, making sure that her hair kept the highlights, but did something different. The X’s and O‘s you could see in the chest region, crossing down her legs. The loop for a ponytail all of those were right. Her X earrings felt inspired. But she still wasn’t done yet.

And wouldn’t you know it? I still didn’t like it. I didn’t like Harley’s outfit either. #HarleyQuinn didn’t feel older than #punchline. They both felt young and dumb. Punchy because the colors were doing nothing. ( and it’s not Harley’s thread so I’m not going into that yet.) so I tried and I tried,

Pretty elusive, and also was earning her “Punchy” nickname in my mind. Because boy did I want to. But I couldn’t let up and finally I found something that looked decent and gave me a lot of her old costumes vibes. But it had to stand up to Harley Quinn herself. So I whipped out a design for her too.
So I went back to the basics, breaking down her design and trying to see what I should keep or even what to change entirely. What was reading better with shape language? Why did I like it? Why did I hate it? Was it giving the vibe of what I felt about her? Could I see X’s and O’s? #punchline was

I HATED IT. Lo and behold character design is hard. So I realized I was gonna have to give more than my first effort. I needed her to be iconic. Someone that looked like she could take on and take down her predecessor. Not just in skill, but also style. And let me tell you it took forever.

So I tried to start with the basics of the character. Studying every aspect, I could define something specific to hold onto. And what I slowly realized was that X’s and O’s were supposed to be her signature iconography. It’s even hidden in her costume. Vaguely. squint. So I decided to push that…and

To which I say, with all due respect. No artists drawing her remember to draw her outfit or hair tie consistently twice.Or remember she started with freckles. So I wanted to make her less the hacker girl character with the edgy rave goth hairs treak. And more someone you can never forget.

So the boots changed but kept the sharp of the kneegaurds, and the outfit is more of a robe over a jumpsuit she hides an copious amount of weapons. She's got fab hair, shes half whatever her dad is and Indian (both parents are albino), and sharp stayed in her bangs...BUT WAIT THERES MORE!!

Replicating the sharpness of her blade in her clothing. I even started looking at different types of shoes that could replace hoof like imagery that I believe was supposed to represent ninja shoes. Boy did I go crazy with that. Her mask is a source of pride! Dangerous energy but simplified.
