Fun fact: After nearly 17 years in New England, I still haven't been to Nantucket. I've adapted to coastal living in a lot of ways (I eat seafood now!) but needing to get on a boat in order to get somewhere still feels like a big hurdle.

I've heard a lot of love/hate public transit stories since I started making these MBTA vehicles last year. I still get anxious when considering a bus ride, after spending 3 years relying on a bus that ran once every 45 minutes to get to and from work every day!

What does it mean for food memories to be connected to a specific place? Countries, states, and even cities have connections to specific dishes or styles of food, because specific things were grown there, invented there, or just marketed really well. Marshmallow Fluff was invented in Somerville, MA.

Ever wonder why your street is where it is? Or who decided to name your state? Or why the lines between places were drawn where they were? I'm fascinated by how important the shapes of our places are to the shapes of our lives. And I'm exploring that with my Paper Places map art.
