It's so heartbreaking!

Absolutely, other than political donations of course.

Bike lanes also help the City achieve basically every big, hard goal they have set!
✅Modal Share Shift
✅Climate Change
✅Vision Zero
✅Fiscal Responsibility
✅Household Affordability
✅Density
✅Economic Development

Reminder that, when polled, bike lanes didn't even make the list of top concerns this lasxt election. The people that biked to work were re-elected, overwhelmingly in many cases.

Wow, the budget and density numbers really jump out! We get colder winters, but they aren't typically sustained as @yegwxnerdery.bsky.social recently analyzed.

The amount of snowfall might be different, and the amount that comes down each event, but they manage snow better.

It's a pay to play system, so if a city isn't ranked, they didn't pay to get measured.

Wow, that's horrible. "pure" contributory negligence sounds like a horribly unjust policy.

In a lot of places, crossing "illegally" is also safer.

Edmonton has exceptional cycling potential!

Cities have to pay to be considered. We tried to bring the measure to Edmonton with no luck (maybe next year).

Overall, these designs are good. Whatever they do, assuming it's no worse than what's shown here, will be better than what's there now.

It does seem like most of the tradeoffs are pushed onto cyclists, and we need to be striving to do the best. Lives depend on it and we are 10 years into Vision 0.

E. Two stage crossings - allows people outside of cars to cross one lane at a time, increasing safety and giving them a refuge in case a driver doesn't see them. They also narrow the road, slowing traffic and further increasing safety.

D. Curb extensions and daylighting - these narrow the crossing distance and prevent cars from parking too close to crossings, which improves visibility and safety.
