I rode my bike into Manhattan today, and while my experience is a sample size of 1, the traffic I observed (and rode in) was significantly lower than almost any other Monday in the last year or so. It was, for me, a glorious ride. #congestionpricing

As somebody who rides in Manhattan traffic nearly every day, it’s hilarious to me that people who have to drive into the city think that what they are experiencing on the streets RIGHT NOW is even slightly preferable to congestion tolling.

I have two weeks to prepare a conference talk and I have entered the “reading Jung” phase. The difference between 2023 me and 2013 me is that I know this puts me squarely on target and so I am not curling up in a ball to weep.

the thing about me is that when you put me at a big open party, i just walk around aimlessly, constantly pretending to have recognized somebody. i need lots of little tiny rooms to hide in to make random conversation. i am treating this era of network competition as the cure for context collapse.

The most New York thing ever is to spend an hour listening to the entire population of the beach debate whether or not it is time to leave the beach because of the obvious storm.
