Mostly film and literature. Sometimes photography.
Haha, sorry.

I had no idea idea there was so much of that on here.

Did you read the essay?

Kent Jones should have made this movie instead.

Him threatening student for making leftist film does not seem plausible. He was on friendly terms with lots of leftist filmmakers, would collaborate with some of them, and seemed to love pretty much any vaguely leftist Swedish film not made by Roy Andersson.

He was all of that, no doubt. Lots of people loved him, but even then it always seemed as if it was a case of an abusive, dysfunctional relationship.

But anyway, what I object to is the notion that he remained a nazi, and that he never renounced. He wrote Hets during the war...

Let's just politely say that you shouldn't believe everything Roy Andersson says. Especially not when he's promoting one of his movies to an international audience.

Coppola looking at a small monitor that shows the scenes through 4 different angles. You can borrow as many techniques from the silent era as you like, but Stiller and Murnau most certainly didn't shoot for coverage like this.

The Beast is even worse, from what I saw. I don't understand how he's so loved by cinephiles.

I've read none of them, but because Stein is the one that interests me the most I'll have to go with her book.

Nonetheless, I would still describe myself as a fan of his, but me being indifferent to some of his most admired films, and being very fond of something like The Dead Zone, maybe tells me that I don't really get him.

Not a very good film if you ask me. Maybe I should revisit, but I seem to recall that I found it to be a bit lifeless, similar to his recent films.

Confessions of a philistine: I wasn't even able to finish Crimes of the Future, and I didn't at all care for the two films that came before that one.

I'll give The Shrouds a chance, but I suspect it will be more of the same.

I don't think there's any right way to do it.

A color managed workflow, and then maybe some minor adjustments with the color splice tool is quite often all I need.

But I must admit that I'm not very good at it, and I don't really do much of it either at the moment.
