Here’s what it cost to power my EV for all of 2025 — my first full year with my Level 2 EVSE. For those of you still using gas yes — that’s $195.92 (CAD) for the *entire year*, covering a distance of just over 12 000 km (12Mm).

I’m prepping the IONIQ 5 this week for a family road trip around British Columbia. Honestly there isn’t much to do: I’ll give it a wash and a vacuum, charge the tire inflator and 12V battery booster, charge the car itself to 100% the night before, and check the tire pressure.

Here’s what everyone debating the need to get rid of Canada’s 2035 EV mandate has missed:

1. The existing regulations allow for PHEV’s beyond 2035;

2. Manufacturers that miss their EV/PHEV sales quotas can get credits for building out EV charging infrastructure between now and 2035.

It’s unprecedented in a Canadian Federal Election for two of the three main national parties to have their leaders lose their own seats. It seems completely bonkers.

If @governor.ca.gov is missing Canadians so much, he is welcome to come up and spend his vacation here.

As a Canadian, I don’t typically watch when US Presidents address Congress, so I have a question for my American friends I hope you can help me with.

Is it normal to throw up in your mouth a bit every few minutes while watching?

Amazing win for Team Canada in the 4 Nations cup championship game over the USA. Long live Canada, glorious and free! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

What we really need is an app that can scan a UPC symbol and let us know the country of origin. That way Canadians, Mexicans, and their supporters can determine on the shelf whether a product was likely made in the USA.

I’d be happy to code the app, but need a suitable product UPC database.

American friends — as a Canadian I’m sorry, but we are now forced to treat your country like an enemy to Canada. We didn’t ask for this. We’re didn’t do anything to deserve this. And I know many of you didn’t vote for this — but the reality is your country is declaring unprovoked economic war on us.

I’m honoured to have broken 10 followers — but please don’t expect too much of me! While I was somewhat of an “influencer” on the Internet way back in the early 90s (a story for another day), as a busy dad, husband, and coach (+work) I’m often too busy to be more than “the grand lurker” these days.

Nearly one year to the day, my beloved IONIQ 5 Ultimate had the dreaded ICCU failure two weeks ago. ICCU is being replaced under warrantee, but it’s badly backordered, with no date yet when it’s going to be fixed. They’ve lent me a new Kona for the time being, so I’m learning another EV platform.
