my ideal is about 24-25°C but even that won't warm the icewater that runs in my veins. or thaw my black frozen heart

Wine uses Z: for the linux filesystem iirc. So it just runs Z:\home\user\Downloads\Setup.exe

There's no reason a Linux distro couldn't just do the right thing automatically when you double-click an .exe installer (at least for a few thousand popular applications, kind of like how Proton works) ... aside from, you know, millions of dollars worth of developer time that nobody wants to pay for

I didn't find Bottles all that streamlined and intuitive when I tried to get photoshop working, except that I had an idea of what the Bottles GUI was abstracting over. It's less intimidating than messing with Wine on the command line though

True for most things, especially movies and tv. But a desktop monitor with text on it is way easier on the eyes at 4k.

I'll be angry if people let 8k become a thing

Imagine seeing that cabinet, and then an empty one next to it, and then someone hands you a bucket of ferrite rings and a spool of wire and says "get to work"

Maybe let's not give undue consideration to Emperor Palpatine's arguments in favor of civil obedience, either.

This reminds me of people criticizing Iron Man (2008) because the villain made a socialist/"open source" argument: "You think if you have an idea, that means it belongs to you?" As if Stane or Stark gave two shits about intellectual property law. I bet that power armor violates all sorts of patents.

I can see where the criticism is coming from, but Syndrome's argument is not motivated by egalitarianism or altruism. At the end of the movie, we see that he only wants "superness" in order to show off and receive praise. This backfires comically.
