Unlike the sparkling limelights of the showman, the world of a private collector is full of secrets. Specimens lay scattered in the deep crevices of the earth, to be picked up and gathered in cages and shelves. The provenance of such objects is never without doubt. Moodboard for the short story Her marriage had been born out of love—of the misshapen kind—but ended in tragedy. For her late husband, may god have mercy on him, saw her as a fleeting curiosity of his own. An exotic little bird from the Orient, a passing passion. By the epilogue of their partnership, her wedding band had begun to feel more like a cage.

I’m long overdue for a new profile pic because my hair has grown and my makeup game has levelled up but can we take a moment to appreciate my birthday selfie from last summer? It was the first time my hair was completely back to its natural colour after years of dyeing it darker 🫶🏻

With the way the book is set, #Circuswip actually has multiple antagonists. One of the main antagonists are the anatomists and private collectors who profit off of the exceptional bodies of sideshow performers. Exploding the ways in which disabled bodies were exploited by the medical community.
