phd candidate @ RIMLS nijmegen interested in epigenetics and metabolism, metabolism by itself, science as a whole and odd facts about daily medieval life.

unwilling enemy of brevity in all its forms.
The value of our work, I think, lies in whether our rigorous, reproducible data can be translated into less suffering-- however far down the line.

Not necessarily a new thought, but a good reminder.

researchers have to --in actuality-- generate quality, reproducible data so that it can be used by others, like doctors and researchers at the HCB, to improve lives.

No fundamental research = no novel treatments.

True, and perhaps quite obvious, but to me, it served as a reminder not only of the value of fundamental research but the duty fundamental

My research interests are as fundamental as it gets, and I thought, far removed from the clinic or public, and this is something I grapple with regularly. He replied that he is only able to help patients because there are fundamental scientists progressing on that front, so he can apply methods and

In a mix of naïveté and a sense of deep humility for the work they do, I told the supervisor of their research department that I was a bit embarassed by the small impact of my research, when he asked me what I did.

Ah, and I couldn’t forget: I hope year 2 brings a truce between the mass spec and I.

Oh! And on top of it I really really love my project!

Excited to CUT&RUN more in year 2, especially to dig beyond peak enrichment on the bioinfo side as well as
