chuckling at this text I sent to our Brooklyn friends back in June, their response was “pretty pessimistic”

I felt both heartbroken and heartened seeing this mini food pantry while we trick or treated (that’s her on the left, purple spacesuit)

It’s so weird being a heritage speaker of a language. I have very high comprehension, but I’m B2 (intermediate) in terms of speaking and whatever level “the Little Prince” is in reading. 🫠 So difficult to explain.

This level of specificity in a rejection always feels like a hug. I know so many editors don’t have the bandwidth to give it and I appreciate all the more when it comes.
