is there any valid reason why landlocking (or similar mechanism) isn't used by all these apps?

After buying license they should provide you with an email to their support which you can use to get any, well, tech support, report bugs etc – I do recommend writing to them; Even if it marks end of your journey with reaper, reporting a bug might make it easier for other people in the future

you might argue that it is something which might work well for indie games or smaller teams, but they have been doing that for ages.

it doesn't make much sense for AA(A) IMO - it totally wrecks production cycles, might be less profitable than DLCs, and has been already proved ineffective in the past.

and hot take: this is good enough for most games. The wheel is fine

It might be limiting and other approaches might greatly improve (or influence) various game aspects in a hand of a skilled designer – but if one doesn't want to explore such domains then changes for a sake of changes is just silly.

IMO the underlying "issue" is inheriting various UI/UX and treating them as a solved problem. We see it across all the genres.

We treat such cases as "solved problems" for good reasons; they do work and they do get a job done (same can't be said about more experimental approaches).

ogólnie brakuje nam dobrej kultury wspierania twórców projektów open-source (Granty? Uniwersytety?

Not really what you are looking for, but you might be interested in Jennell Jaquays work – she was very influential in early gamedev times. A good starting point might be: thealexandrian.net/wordpress/13...

it is common practice in the industry, the silliest thing is that CDPR did it earlier with TW2 and TW3 demos (TW2 was one showcased on E3 in 2010 or so).

What are they supposed to do instead? Showcase the game only when it is finished? Market themselves by presenting a buggy, broken mess instead?

Having less than two choices is a blasphemy, having more than two is also a blasphemy. Either make an ultimatum of two

or make infinite amount of choices

so you have two options here
choose wisely
which one will it be?
TWO (TU)
or INFINITE (INFINETE)

unfortunately AI tools are not a bicycle for mind, they are a car, and a fairly shitty one – the outcome is biblical flood of low-effort slop.

I think butlerian jihad might be reasonable solution atm

Transformative qualities of so-called AI are also not being talked about too often; Personally I had a blast transforming my old avatar into whatever I had on mind.
