Ukraine’s SBU said it damaged the bridge between Crimea and Russia, blowing up one of the pillars. Extent of structural damage from the underwater explosion is unclear. t.me/SBUkr/14960

You hear a lot in the U.S. about how a dynamic and competitive America has left the decaying lazy Europe far behind in the 21st century. That is only true in nominal GDP terms, which reflect the overvalued $. The picture is completely different if you look at purchasing parity-adjusted statistics.

Stunning declines in favorable opinion of the United States among its closest allies since the election, with swings of 20% to 30% in major European nations, Japan, Korea and Australia. And most of this polling was done before Trump’s trade war! www.ipsos.com/en/americas-...

Ukrainian drones strike the headquarters of Russia’s 112th Missile Brigade, which Ukrainian intelligence says was responsible for the Palm Sunday massacre in Sumy. Location: Shuya, nearly 500 miles from Ukraine.

“Many” Ukrainian civilians killed in a Russian ballistic missile strike on Sumy as residents were heading to church for Palm Sunday services, local officials say. One of the missiles apparently hit a trolley bus.
In other news, Witkoff’s sightseeing in St Petersburg seems to have gone great.

As Trump undermines alliances, weakens America’s economy and neuters its soft power, China senses that its time has arrived. My @WSJ Review piece. www.wsj.com/world/as-the...

You know what else President Trump believes in, in addition to his long-held conviction that tariffs will usher a golden age? That some U.S. Treasuries may be fraudulent and that the U.S. debt is smaller than people think. (Video below from February.)

More Americans favor than oppose additional aid to Ukraine (a flip since January) and a not-insignificant 25% support annexing Canada and Greenland, per WSJ poll.

Trump: Tariff is the most beautiful word in the dictionary. Europe is out there to screw us. We must close our borders.
Musk: I support zero tariffs between Europe and North America, and also freedom of movement so Europeans and Americans can easily work in each other’s countries.

Fresh from his meetings in the White House, Putin’s envoy has thoughts — not on a ceasefire in Ukraine but on Americans exercising First Amendment rights.

A Russian Tu 22M3 strategic bomber crashed in the Irkutsk region of Russia, the fourth loss of such aircraft in the past two years. Russia uses these planes, which are no longer manufactured, for missile strikes on Ukraine, and only about 30 are still operational. t.me/kobzevii/10394

The Biden administration’s fury when Ukraine sank the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet is all you need to know to understand how misguided its “escalation management” policy was. A historic opportunity was lost in 2022.

Russia’s message to Trump: don’t expect a ceasefire in Ukraine anytime soon.
A positive outcome of ceasefire talks “won’t happen this year, or maybe at the end of the year,” said Grigori Karasin, the Russian negotiator at the latest talks in Riyadh.

According to the DNI assessment, Russia had more than 750,000 military casualties during its war in Ukraine. By comparison, the U.S. had just over a million service members killed or wounded in World War II. The U.S. at the time had a population roughly the same size as Russia today.

Russian negotiator Karasin describes the U.S.-Russia talks in Saudi Arabia as “interesting, difficult but sufficiently constructive,” adds that expert groups will “likely” continue meetings. Doesn’t sound like a breakthrough.
