Getting increasingly interested in the application of complexity economics to climate risk. I wrote an open-source agent-based model that embeds a heterogeneous set of agents in different climate scenarios, showcasing the need for ABMs in climate risk assessments.

Current scenario analysis and stress testing frameworks often ignore systematic risks of physical climate risk in the context of the wider economy. I make a case in this point about why we are underestimating physical climate risk. Let me know what you think! open.substack.com/pub/yaramo/p...

Econometric climate models show a wide range of results, from single digits to 30-40% GDP loss for the same climate scenario!

In my latest post, I make a case for moving beyond simple empirical functions to a complex-systems approach for a more robust framework.

Why we need to rethink climate econometrics: from empirical functions to complex systems
The more I study the frontiers of climate econometrics, the more shocked I get at how limited existing models are for something with such enormous consequences.

I recently found myself going down a rabbit hole on new developments in climate-econometric models and how they may impact future NGFS scenarios. So I decided to write up an article with some thoughts. open.substack.com/pub/yaramo/p...

While all the excitement with LLMs is (rightly) about coding, little things like this are still underrated and huge time savers. Don’t know how I used to do this by hand…

Spent the week with Far Away Projects on Horseshoe Reef (Florida Keys). Water temperature was in the 30s C / 90s F. Saw coral bleaching in action and fish dying from heat stress.

I can’t describe how beautiful the reef ecosystem was. We must really do more to protect them!

It’s interesting how inflectionAI’s PI asks you questions back. I wonder if this is the new data aggregation platform for user profiles, survey data, advertisement etc?

Blue carbon is a no-brainer. Mangrove restoration can result in 9 to 221 megatonnes / year of carbon removal into the ocean, not to mention the ecosystem and coastline protection benefits of mangroves

If you view the Vision Pro as a toy, then sure the price tag is too high. But if you see it as an alternative for everyone to have their own designated home theater, home office, gaming room, etc. for a fraction of the price then $3500 is still much cheaper than the alternative!

Why are people hating on custom feeds? I think it’s great! Sometimes I just want to see tech news, or see what my friends here are saying. No complaints from me!

If you’re worried about echo chambers, add a custom feed for topics/groups you may disagree with. Problem solved.
