silence isn’t loud, pain is.
a screenshot of a poem that reads: i always hear the saying silence is loud. what's loud is the thrumming of my heartbeat while i sit alone with my thoughts and feelings. what's loud are the sounds of my sobs and gasps when no one's listening. what's loud are your footsteps down the stairs as you walk away from me. step. step. step. beat. beat. beat. my heart beats in time with every step you take, running further and further away from me. what's loud is the slamming of the front door. what's loud are my own thoughts screaming at me that i'm a waste of time and space and life. what's loud are my screams at the sky asking why life is so hard. but i never get a response. just silence. the type of peace i never asked for. then i realized: silence isn't loud, pain is.
