We now have the opportunity to design a £50M research programme to help us get onto that path.

The challenge is identifying which directions could be most fruitful. We need diverse perspectives to help us navigate this responsibly.

In the coming months, I’m exploring potential high-risk, high-reward areas to build my own programme. My early thinking revolves around radically improving our ability to predict evolution, or transforming human wellbeing by reverse-engineering ants, bees, wasps, and termites.
