Depressing indeed… luckily the developer apologized and will change the icon with the next update.

Thank you for saying this. The compromise is definitely the solution I was hoping for.

Thanks! I‘m also pleased with the way this matter has turned out.
The screenshots don’t bother me too much but the icon definitely triggered something (probably due to my very strong bond to app icons)…

Update on this: I had a call with the developer and he apologized and will change the icon with the next update.

Wow, that’s next-level audacity!
In my case I just had a call with the developer and he will change the icon with the next update.

I have no clue tbh. My app doesn’t generate any revenues at all so this can’t be it. The only thing I can think of is to jump on the train in order to misguide users. It also uses the exact name of another competitor app…

I can only speak for myself but from my experience I would always recommend to use native languages. It might take a little longer but the difference is night and day.

Yes, I heavily rely on Claude. It works great because I can provide the iOS files for comparison, Claude generates the main structure and I can focus on the details.

I see what you mean, but would you say that companies go to the extra effort of first building something with cross-platform solutions to validate it, and then switching to native solutions later in the process?
Don't get me wrong, but I haven't had that experience yet…

And the best part? My app still *looks* like my app but *feels* it was built for the specific platform. So no half-baked “almost native” compromise! 💪

I wish! Yesterday someone brought skip.tools to my attention so I might give this a try 🤔

Thanks, Kamal! It‘s the same for me. Until now, SwiftUI was the only language I had experience with, so yes, I'm relying on a lot of help from AI agents at the moment. However, I plan to learn Jetpack Compose during this journey which is somewhat similar to SwiftUI 🙌
