I’d be bored shitless and probably permanently drunk. The Wives by Valerie Keogh. Weak plot, unlovable characters. 😴

As a result of working in a high security prison, in a front-line, rehabilitative/risk assessor role, I didn’t glean too much from Dostoyevsky’s maudlin dialogue. All murders aren’t equal in terms of modus operandi…..but generally have the same outcome 🤣

I also found Crime and Punishment over rated as one of the ‘best books ever’. It was dull, depressing and I didn’t give a shit what happened to the characters. The most exciting part was when the main protagonist killed two of them. Tolstoy clearly had a love for nature, which I appreciated.

….and try not to select a total prick for a husband! 🤣

Anna Karenina. I really liked the story, it was heavy going in places as Tolstoy seemed to like pontificating on Russian farming methods but the overall message stayed with me….in short, the grass is not always greener on the other side/be careful what you wish for.

All of the above. Tolstoy’s descriptions regarding the machinations of rural Russia’s farming methods appeared positively glowing in comparison, and that’s really saying something.

Recently read Crime and Punishment and was disappointed to find it a complete drag. Tolstoy for me. 👍🏼

Read this many years ago when first published. It’s one of my 20 books that influenced me. Just finished Pigs in Heaven but TPB has always been my favourite of hers. 🤗

As a U.K. citizen I find it so weird that people have to pay for insulin. You get free prescriptions and treatment here. We all moan in England because we have to pay a flat rate (about $10) for any prescription, unless you are exempt due to age or ongoing medical condition (eg; diabetes).
