Neglected tropical diseases ( #NTDs ) severely impact impoverished communities by trapping individuals in a cycle of poverty through disability, reduced labour productivity, and increased healthcare costs, which diminish family income & economic opportunity.

Attending the second @who.int meeting on Skin NTDs in Geneva. Good to hear progress is being made to integrate care for skin diseases since the last meeting in 2023. Cutaneous leishmaniasis remains a big problem, with cases rising in some regions (and still under reported)

I feel so frustrated that we are in a situation where needless research that fuels vaccine hesitancy and has already been done extensively could happen- my take on the call to reopen MMR vaccines and autism research- TL: there is NO link 🧪
