grapes are the other go-to, because you can reliably get good grapes. they're not very tangy, but their cloying taste kinda substitutes for that

they're also great because you can freeze them after purchase and they remain excellent snacks for 2 weeks+

kiwi cultivars can and do grow here, so if i want tangy i go for those--they have to be less ripe, and you gotta eat the skin, but kiwi+skin tastes great when they're still in the "hard as a rock" phase of ripeness, which you can reliably find here

they still seem mostly fine if not my first choice when the fancier mn cultivars are available at okay prices
