Another thing to point out is in the initial footage, a flash can be seen near Engine No. 2, the engine mounted on the MD-11’s tail.
This is most likely a compressor stall. If people’s theories are correct, debris from the left engine struck Engine No. 2 when it exploded.

For those unaware, once a plane reaches V1, it is impossible to abort takeoff in a safe manner. This means the crew were absolutely doomed, and there was very little they could’ve done to avoid this disaster.

For those unaware, once a plane reaches V1, it is impossible to abort takeoff in a safe manner. This means the crew were absolutely doomed, and there was very little they could’ve done to avoid this disaster.
