Sometimes we walk Blossom along the waterfront, but today’s walk required a stop-in at the Post Office on the high street.

The sky is brilliant today, so I decided to take my work to Happy Out after a long walk along the pier with the dog. I met this very bold plant on the way back home.

Sunday morning does not disappoint. The low-angled sun is softly strong, the sea is a spectacular blue, and the cafe serves coffee in mugs with the perfect thumb divot and welcomes Blossom.

Today’s workspace: Powerscourt in Dublin with tea and a scone. It’s twinkly, full of plants (dripping with real ones as well as the faux holiday greenery), and has a lovely yarn shop.

Today’s work setup: It is blustery today, so much that I keep thinking about that Winnie the Pooh story I read hundreds of times as a child. Luckily we have windows with southern exposure, an adjustable height desk, a window ledge just wide enough for sitting, and a dog for company.

Day in the life - couch-based research, bright southern exposure on a rainy day, and a tired pup after a long walk and her favorite treat.

After flying all night, and SO much paperwork, our puppy made it to Ireland!

I ordered my café con leche “sin azúcar” this morning and the bouncy, dancing server stopped in her tracks and looked at me like I was a curiosity. She left then doubled back “not even a little bit?!?” #miami #cubancoffee

I feel like I was in Dublin for a heartbeat and now I have to hop back in plane, this time to Miami to help out my father who landed in the hospital with a cracked vertebrae.

I kinda love how my hair & glasses match the airline’s color scheme. I’ll take tiny bits of joy wherever I can find them.

Vacillating between being heartbroken for a whole world in crisis and taking comfort in small joys like this perfect ledge for sipping my warm beverage while reading an old favorite on a rainy blustery Dublin day.

This glorious child on day 5 of living in Ireland!

Rookie mistake. When you live two blocks from the sea, never leave your lunch unattended. The seagulls will find it.

Hello 51, from my sunny balcony overlooking the Irish Sea.

Here’s to never being too old for radical new adventures!

In a long tradition of mothers the night before the first day of school, here I am sewing a hem.

I just moved across the ocean and could not justify the expense of shipping a very heavy sewing machine.

Thank goodness for audiobooks.

My kid arrived in Dublin a few days ago and in the taxi from the airport declared “I’ve been in Ireland for an hour and my hair is already redder.” Welcome home, child!

Once a year I get dolled up in THE MOST important outfit to have my picture taken. You should too. Like right now. Go make an appointment, i don’t care if it’s after hours, leave a message of you have to, but don’t put it off! #mammogram

Are you in a position to distribute COVID tests to your community through your work, clubs, associations, community groups, etc? If so, they are still available for free and ship in about a week.

I haven’t been able to cry in months. That’s not healthy.

This is the closest I’ve gotten.

Luckily for me the library has a copy available. BRB.

Despite the fuckery happening in the US federal government, the world keeps worlding and nature keeps naturing. Take heart from this 2mm asparagus fern spear that just appeared over the last couple of days. Keep reaching for the light!

Oh, Paul Murray, what a perfect description of the first 2 weeks under this new presidency:

“Life at that time was like walking on a path made of spinning tops You took a step you were spun off one way The next step spun you off another Every moment was the moment when everything changed”
