This is a byproduct of using a system that was meant for Twitter initially. ATP is designed by and for Twitter, they just moved it here after Elon. It's meant to be doomscrollable, with an algorithm controlled by a central, monetizable hub system. The more I learn about this the more I hate it...

This is something I can't really understand, ActivityPub (open standard for decentralized social media) supports locking accounts... Bluesky made their own version called ATProtocol and decided to not include support for that... it's really stupid.
