I suspect problem solving like this is why it is generally dangerous to try and domesticate wolves. They can get around your restrictions fairly easily. They also aren't bred to please humans.

I use a liquid fertilizer when I water, every time. I don't know if this is recommended by all cactus growers or not, but it has worked for me.

Phoebe Biscuits, the kitten with the mittens, is polydactyl. I just discovered that the claw on one of the extra toes is growing in a tight circle and was digging into the toe. I clipped it off but I'll likely have to do that for the rest of her life. Watch out for that!

Growing up, we couldn't have a cat because my dad was very allergic. I used to stop and greet every single cat I came across. When my parents split up, the first thing my sister did was to go adopt a cat.

Please know that I am thinking about you both. It's a hard time, and there's no one way to get thru it. Reach out to friends, for counselling, whatever you need to support you and your dad thru whatever is coming.
