I believe it’s the other way around (Sociologist here). Equity is the fair result (e.g. everyone has enough food) and equality is usually same rights or fair treatment (everyone is allowed to buy as much food as they want).

Yeah, since being Jewish is an ethnic-religious identity, even a non-practicing or partially practicing Jew is still Jewish. Since the percentage is from the census (rather than an online quiz) I feel like people would only say they’re Jewish if they converted or have Jewish ancestry (mom or dad).

I also think it depends who one considers Jewish. As a secular or sometime reform Jew I would say anyone who identifies as one.

I’m Jewish and living in California. Most of the Jews in my community know the approximate % give or take.

I was just saying that to a colleague yesterday. These misconceptions were not on the left agenda to argue against enough, but they should have been. In many ways, not just on this issue, it’s as if both sides were talking about completely different topics, and look how well that turned out.
