Fair play, Ireland has so much history in the sciences that goes largely unrecognised I feel like.
Can’t imagine it’s easy and I wish you luck man

This is what happens when you let nerds think they’re cool

Once crashed my whole laptop somewhere after 700

I guess if the glitter is metal flake it could theoretically cause problems, otherwise I don’t see any way it could

Did not, overslept and missed a meeting :3

I would like to believe that there is enough competency buried really deep in the DoD or somewhere that would be able to talk some degree of sense into him over at least something like this

They’ll have to care when missiles start hitting ships trying to transit the suez or any of the numerous western military bases in Djibouti

With every passing day my hate for ataturk grows stronger

I think I can maybe trust the government with the gaa’s job when I see them do one other single thing competently, till then I’d sooner keep just this one thing under someone else’s control who are competent lol
March 23, 2025 at 5:16 PM
Yeah no I’d have probably thought a bit more about my initial response if I’d known I’d actually get one back
March 23, 2025 at 5:12 PM
Tbf the government recently spent over €300.000 on extremely literal bikeshedding, I’m not entirely sure I trust them to get things done as well as the gaa
March 23, 2025 at 5:10 PM
Ok sorry I misunderstood. Nothing in principle wrong with that, something inside still doesn’t like but it’s probably irrational

Not to mention, the GAA being so profitable means that football is probably the only thing in the country at the moment with actually good and fit for purpose infrastructure. I’m from the middle of nowhere, the local GAA club is really the only public amenity and it’s very well funded

And gave multimillionaire players playing for the highest bidder rather than their own community? No thanks
March 23, 2025 at 4:38 PM
And it’s all the better for it. Players don’t get payed millions to transfer, they play for their own county out of love of the game

But my grandmother says Galway is so dangerous nowadays and used never be like that so obviously things were better 60 years ago when people in my area occasionally starved to death
March 23, 2025 at 2:26 PM
America isn’t *currently* doing that though. If they buy all they can for now I think it will do them better
March 21, 2025 at 9:58 PM
The beauty of capitalism I guess, at the end of the day, for the moment, Canada can buy F-35 more or less unimpeded. I reckon buying as many F-35s as they can, as well as all the spare parts they can get, will serve them better until they can hopefully develop a 5th or 6th gen fighter of their own
March 21, 2025 at 9:57 PM
All three European options have inflated cost due to low volume (you could argue that can change but I don’t think it will) and F-35 just gives more capability per dollar spent
