Today, @lizhare.bsky.social gave a spectacular talk at the Big Team Science Conf about the peer review software resources developed by @ropensci.org and how she learned about them during the Champions program.

The slide with the unexpected benefits is my favorite part of the entire presentation!

2/2 I also identified 15 event types that can be grouped in teaching & training (192), presentations & talks (191), large-scale events (58), and community & collaborative events (56). These events have been mainly in Spanish, then English, and only 11 in Portuguese (I hope to increase this number)

1/2 I have been doing events for the last 32 years. In that time, I have registered 496 events, of which 267 (53.8%) have been online. I have six different roles. "Speaker" is the most frequent, with 19 participations as a keynote speaker.

6/ 🧩 More useful options:
You can:
- Add custom fields (priority, due dates, status)
- Assign tasks directly from the board
- Filter by labels, people, or status.

Super handy for team projects.

4/ 🎟️ Add items to the board:
You can add: Issues, Pull Requests, Notes (standalone tasks)
To add an issue:
- Open an Issue in your repo.
- In the issue sidebar, find Projects.
- Select your board.
The Issue appears as a card in the initial column!

From the project, you can:

3/ 📌 Basic columns:
Projects work with columns that represent task statuses.
For example:
To do
In progress
Done
👉 You can customize columns (rename or add) according to your workflow.
e.g., “Needs review”, “Waiting for data”
September 20, 2025 at 8:30 PM
2/ ➕ Create a Project:

- Go to your repository on GitHub.
- In the Projects tab, click on New project.
- Choose:
📋 Board view (columns like “To do / In progress / Done”)
or
📄 Table view (spreadsheet-like).
- Give it a name (e.g., Sample Collection).

That's it! You now have your board 🎉
September 20, 2025 at 8:30 PM
8/ 📝 Upload files
Within your repository, click Add file → Upload files.

You can drag and drop:
📄 Documents
📊 Data
🖼️ Figures
📑 Notes

You can also use folders to organize your project:
📂 data/
📂 figures/
📂 documents/

This makes it easier for your collaborators to find information.

4/ 📝 Commits: your change history
A commit is like a “Save version” with comments.
Every time you edit or upload a file (such as the readme), you can:
- Add a message explaining what you did.
- Confirm (commit changes).
Examples:
✅ “Add initial sampling table”
❌ “Various changes”
September 2, 2025 at 2:21 AM
3/ 📖 The README:
The README.md file is the cover page of your repo.
It explains:
- What your project is about, you can include the objectives
- How to use or navigate it
- Contact information
- Authorship and funding information

To edit it, click on the pencil (top right) next to the file name.
September 2, 2025 at 2:21 AM
2/🚀 Create your first repo:
On GitHub, click on ➕ (top right) → New repository
- Choose a short, descriptive name
- Add a description (which is the project)
- Choose visibility: public🔓 or private🔒
- Check the “Add a README file” option → highly recommended
- Click Create repository 🎉
September 2, 2025 at 2:21 AM
8/ 📝 Subir archivos
