This is a great summary of the current situation: "LLMs have their place, but anyone expecting the current paradigm to be close to AGI is delusional."

Game over. AGI is not imminent, and LLMs are not the royal road to getting there.
First slowly, and then all at once, dreams of LLMs bringing us to the cusp of AGI have fallen apart.

It's strange that Google Gemini Flash 2.5 spits out a Japanese Kana instead of a space between two english words:

I think the success of Cursor and Windsurf doesn't come from vibe coders, but from traditional coders who are in search of the promised productivity gains.
The company behind Cursor, the AI coding assistant, is now making $300M ARR and has turned down an acquisition offer from OpenAI.

Not to be deterred, OpenAI has made a $3B offer to buy Windsurf, a Cursor competitor which has $100M ARR.

Vibe coding is an extremely hot space right now.
Why OpenAI wanted to buy Cursor but opted for the fast-growing Windsurf | TechCrunch
OpenAI initially approached Anysphere, maker of the AI coding editor, Cursor, about an acquisition, but is now in talks to buy Windsurf.

Firefox + Notion seems to be a bad combination for memory consumption: 5.4GB of RAM used for 3 measly tabs! 🤯

I love where O'Reilly's going with their online library's AI-powered features. 👏

"Ask a question" is an amazing concept. To be able to chat with a book, let alone an entire online library. 🤯 If it's well-implemented, this would create a much improved learning environment.

Tech Debt as a Service!

But, what is that?

It's another name for what the AI-assisted coding tools provide in the hands of the vibe-coders who don't necessarily know what they're doing.

I'm sure there's a piece of twitter code in the "See Less Often" functionality that goes something like this:

if (message.getAuthor().equals("Elon Musk")) {
// show this ungrateful twitter user more Elon wisdom
} else {
// some algorithm
}

1. Today the NIH director issued a new directive slashing overhead rates to 15%.

I want to provide some context on what that means and why it matters.
