You're right! The unstable PH around these black smoker vents and extreme temperature differences that range from 400 degrees to near 0 degrees Celsius pose an extreme challenge for even what's considered as normal life. They would have to evolve for the environment around those vents specifically.

THE USA WILL SWOOP IN AND TAKE CONTROL OF THESE MINING EFFORTS BECAUSE THEY NEVER SIGNED THE DEAL. THERE WILL BE A WILD WEST. AND IT'S UNDER 5000 METERS OF WATER. THERE WILL BE A GOLD RUSH. BUT ITS ALL FOR FUCKING CAR BATTERIES.

WDYM A SPONSORED COUNTRY NEEDS TO BE ABLE TO EXERCISE EFFECTIVE CONTROL? WHAT IS DEFINED AS EFFECTIVE CONTROL? NO FUCKING WONDER TMC CHOSE NAURU AS PART OF THEIR LIST OF SPONSOR COUNTRIES. THEYRE SELLING THEIR FUCKING MORALS. NAURU DOES NOT HAVE ANY PERSONNEL TO ENFORCE THESE LAWS.

The Clarion Clipperton Zone belongs to nature, NOT mankind. Choosing small nations that can't enforce ANY of these laws is a ploy for these corporations to go corrupt. They know these nations cannot exercise any form of control over the mining. NAURU STARTED THIS. FUCK YOU.

There WILL BE LONG-TERM DAMAGE and effects on ecologies that depend on the Clarion Clipperton Zone Polymetalic Nodules, and ecologists and conservationists barely have any say in any or all of this.

Oh yeah, and they (US Gov) will SOMEHOW lob in deep sea mining as a budget with other energy resources, so if ocean mining doesn't get accepted as part of the budget, no one is getting energy money. This is basically taking hostages with contracts and funding.

Due to that, partnering companies will have to act under USA laws instead of international law, which are usually more favorable for those companies that rally support for USA laws, while international laws will most likely be powerless to stop, or that will be too late.

What will happen is a lot of unregulated extraction. And you bet they will be holding funding for energy hostage to get permits passed if that's possible. Furthermore, laws will be implemented with a clear agenda benefiting private companies (international and domestic US).

You chose an interesting key trait here—lateral undulation over dorsal undulation. Especially considering how human spines work. But it adds up, the fact that you clarified they convergently evolved from fish. I wonder if they invented fire or a way to cook their food to gain more nutrients from it.
