I don't find it important to finish every piece that I start and actually find it helpful to say, "yeah, this one is hot garbage". But it is SUPER important to not have scrapped it for nothing, and instead try to see what to do differently next time

For me, it's usually summarizing the good parts of the scrapped ideas to use later for something completely different. It's hard to repurpose those good parts at will, so for me it's best to keep those "good parts" in the back of my mind where they may eventually pop up in a different context
