This is why. Anybody who crosses Trump is harassed, doxxed, and receives hundreds of death threats. Elon Musk amplifies all of this on X. He has a direct line to the most disgusting and mentally ill of Trump's followers and he knows EXACTLY how to enrage them.

Trump is doing awful things, but what doesn’t get talked about enough is what he brings out in others. The collective pass he’s been given sends a clear message to the worst people in society—they’re free to be their worst selves, out in the open, without consequence.
