There’s Photopea, sadly browser based. There’s also a way to run Photoshop using Wine, but it’s very convoluted. I don’t know a lot about Krita, but it’s actually still actively developed. I don’t think there’s anything else that’s good enough to use for everyday work

Exactly, GIMP is very old by now, and very complex. There aren’t enough people with good skills willing to contribute to it so the development is very slow compared to programs like Photoshop
