The way the game is going with high level of intensity, added ucl games, internationals, potential deep cup runs you probably want your first 16(maybe 18) players to be starter ready/level. And you adjust and rotate depending on opponent, minutes played etc

Its more than you’d expect for a “rotation option” but his availability and versatility I think he’ll still start vast majority of games whether that’s upfront or in midfield. We’ve invested heavily, reliable for most of his time here we know his shortcomings but plenty to offer over next few years
